Courts refuse to release the Voters Roll ahead of 2023 elections

It’s been over 100 days since the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) refused to release the Voters Roll. The issue escalated after ZEC declined the Voters Roll application by Harare North MP, Alan Markham. Since then the courts had been looking into the matter and today the courts have deemed it necessary for ZEC not to release the Voters Roll.

Speaking to the media, Mr Alan Markhama’s lawyers spoke at large of their disappointment to share the bad news. The lawyer highlighted what not having a Voters Roll means to the citizens and his  feelings but he also reserved further steps to come from his client Mr Markham.

Several political and social commentators and journalists have given their feelings about the whole issue on the matter. Lets go straight into what the lawyers have said of the courts’ decision to allow ZEC to withhold the Voters Roll.
